CBC's Evacuation Procedures in the event of the fire alarms sounding during a service

It is good practice to remind our wider CBC congregation from time to time of our fire evacuation procedure.

In the event of the fire alarms sounding please immediately evacuate using all available exits and in the first instance go the church car park pending confirmation that there is a fire. Only if there self evidently is a fire or you are advised to by a leader or member of staff, go straight to the Assembly Point on the Green by Sherborne Road & St Paul’s Road . Please do not attempt to move your vehicle from the car park at this point.

If the alarm were to sound during a morning service, parents or carers of children in the creche, please collect them directly from the creche as you evacuate the building.

If the children’s and youth groups have gone out from the main church, parents and carers of children in Xplore [pre-school aged 2-4] please collect your children from the car park adjacent to the fire door at the end of the North Hall. All other children and young people, having evacuated the building, should remain with their group leaders adjacent to the Duncan Road entrance of the car park.

If a full evacuation to the Assembly point is required, the group leaders will escort them to that point where parents and carers can then collect them.

If it is establshed that it is a false alarm, the fire alarms will be turned off, the Panel reset and everyone invited back into the buildings.

This evacuation procedure applies throughout the week to all groups that meet in the buildings.
